Natuzzi in Erbil: The Authorised Dealer Guide
Natuzzi's heritage, the collections available in Erbil, leather grades explained, and the customisation options most buyers do not know exist.

If you have spent any time looking at high-end seating in the Kurdistan region, the name Natuzzi will have come up. It is the most internationally recognised Italian furniture brand in Iraq, and for many families it is the first reference point when furnishing a new villa or upgrading a reception room. What is less well understood is the depth of the range, the meaning of the leather grading system, and the customisation options that turn a catalogue piece into something genuinely tailored to your home.
## A Brief History That Matters
Natuzzi was founded by Pasquale Natuzzi in 1959 in Taranto, and grew through the 1980s and 1990s into the largest Italian upholstery exporter in the world. In 1993 it became the first Italian furniture manufacturer to list on the New York Stock Exchange, a fact that still shapes how the company operates: financial reporting, supply-chain transparency, and quality systems are held to a higher standard than typical privately held competitors.
Today the company runs design studios in Italy, tanneries that produce its own leather, and showrooms in over a hundred countries. The flagship line, Natuzzi Italia, is positioned at the upper end of the market and is what we carry at Gloria.
## What Is Available in the Erbil Showroom
Our Natuzzi Italia selection is curated rather than exhaustive. We bring in the models that work best for Iraqi homes, where reception rooms, family living areas, and majlis spaces each have distinct requirements.
The structured silhouettes — pieces such as the Adrenalina and Patto — suit formal reception rooms where visual presence matters and seating is more often shared with guests than family. The modular and sectional ranges, including configurations from the Iago and Versatile families, are built for daily living: deep seats, generous proportions, and the ability to reconfigure as your family or your room evolves. Recliner-equipped models with electric mechanisms are increasingly popular for media rooms, where evening film viewing is a real ritual rather than an afterthought.
Beyond seating, we also carry Natuzzi armchairs, occasional chairs, and select case goods — coffee tables, sideboards, and bedroom pieces — that share the same design language and material standards.
## Leather Grades: What You Are Actually Choosing
Natuzzi organises its leathers into tiers, and the tier you choose has more impact on the long-term character of the piece than almost any other decision.
Protected leathers (often labelled as the entry tier within the Italia line) carry a pigmented topcoat. They are the most resistant to staining, scratches, and sun exposure. They do not develop the rich patina of higher grades, but they are forgiving — a sensible choice for households with children or where the sofa sees heavy daily use.
Semi-aniline leathers sit in the middle. They retain more of the natural grain and develop a subtle patina over time, while still offering reasonable stain resistance. For most buyers, this is the sweet spot.
Aniline and pure aniline leathers are the highest grade. The hide is dyed through with no surface coating, which means every mark of the original animal is visible — pores, healed scars, grain variation. These leathers age beautifully but require more careful living. They are best suited to formal rooms where the piece will be seen but not subjected to heavy daily traffic.
Within each tier, you will find dozens of colour options, from classical browns and creams to contemporary greys, ochres, and deep blues. We keep the most popular references in the showroom for handling and comparison under natural light, which is the only honest way to choose a leather.
## Customisation: More Than You Think
The catalogue images you see online represent a small fraction of what is actually available. On most Natuzzi Italia models, you can specify:
The frame size, often in two or three lengths. The seat depth, which affects how the sofa accommodates taller or shorter family members. The cushion firmness, ranging from softer feather-blend fills to firmer foam cores. The arm style and headrest configuration, including manual or electric adjustability. The leg finish, in matte black, polished metal, or several wood tones. The leather, in any of the dozens of options across the tiers.
A serious order conversation in our showroom typically takes an hour or more, because there are real choices to be made and the choices interact. We walk every client through the full configuration before placing the order with the factory.
## Lead Times, Warranty, and What Happens After
Made-to-order Natuzzi Italia pieces are produced in Italy after your order is confirmed. Standard production runs eight to twelve weeks, with another two to four weeks for shipping and customs clearance into Iraq. We track every order and provide updates as the piece moves through production and transit.
Every authorised Natuzzi Italia order carries the manufacturer's structural warranty on the frame and seating mechanisms, with leather and upholstery warranties layered above. These warranties are honoured globally through the authorised dealer network, which is one of the most underrated reasons to buy through proper channels rather than parallel imports.
## Visiting the Showroom
The honest recommendation for anyone considering a Natuzzi piece is to come in and sit on it. Photographs and renders cannot communicate seat firmness, the weight of leather in the hand, or the way a particular model occupies the volume of a real room. Our showroom on Ankawa Road in Erbil holds a working selection across the most relevant ranges, and our team is available in Arabic, Kurdish, and English to walk you through the options without pressure. If you are travelling from Baghdad or further south, let us know in advance and we can prepare specific configurations for your visit.
