MAINTENANCE
Care Instructions
Every piece from Gloria is built to last. With the right care, your furniture, candles, and accessories will retain their beauty for years to come. Below you will find our recommended care guidelines by material type.
Leather Furniture
- Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth to prevent particle build-up in the grain.
- Clean spills immediately with a lightly dampened cloth — never rub, always blot.
- Condition leather every 6–12 months with a pH-neutral leather conditioner to prevent cracking and maintain suppleness.
- Keep leather furniture away from direct sunlight and heat sources, which cause fading and drying.
- For deep stains or restoration, consult a professional leather specialist rather than attempting home remedies.
- Avoid using household cleaning products, alcohol-based sprays, or solvents, which will strip the protective coating.
Fabric & Upholstery
- Vacuum upholstered surfaces weekly using a low-suction brush attachment to remove dust and debris.
- Rotate and flip loose cushions regularly to distribute wear evenly and maintain shape.
- Treat spills immediately: blot with a clean, dry cloth from the outside of the stain inward. Do not rub.
- For spot cleaning, use a mild soap diluted in lukewarm water on a clean cloth; test on an inconspicuous area first.
- Schedule professional upholstery cleaning every 12–18 months, especially in dusty environments.
- Keep fabric furniture away from prolonged direct sunlight to prevent fading — use curtains or blinds during peak hours.
Wood & Marble
- Always use coasters, placemats, and trivets — marble and wood surfaces are vulnerable to rings, heat marks, and scratches.
- Wipe wood surfaces with a slightly damp cloth and dry immediately; never allow water to sit on the surface.
- Polish solid wood furniture with a quality furniture wax or beeswax product every 3–6 months to nourish the wood and protect the finish.
- Maintain stable humidity levels in rooms with wooden furniture; extreme dryness can cause cracking and warping.
- Clean marble with a pH-neutral stone cleaner — avoid acidic substances such as vinegar, lemon juice, or wine, which will etch the surface.
- Seal marble surfaces annually with a food-safe stone sealer for optimal stain resistance.
Crystal & Glass
- Hand wash crystal and glass pieces in warm water with a small amount of gentle dish soap; avoid the dishwasher.
- Dry immediately with a soft, lint-free cloth to prevent water spots and mineral deposits.
- Handle crystal by the base or body rather than the rim to avoid stress fractures.
- Store crystal pieces upright and separated, never stacked, to prevent chipping and cracking.
- Polish crystal with a soft microfibre cloth to restore brilliance; a small amount of white vinegar on the cloth can remove stubborn clouding.
Scented Candles
- On the first burn, allow the entire surface to melt to the edges — this prevents tunnelling and ensures an even burn throughout the candle's life.
- Before each burn, trim the wick to 5mm to prevent excessive flame, soot, and uneven burning.
- Never burn a candle for more than four hours at a time; allow it to cool and re-solidify before relighting.
- Keep burning candles away from draughts, fans, and air conditioning vents, which cause uneven burning and soot.
- Store candles away from direct sunlight, which fades both the vessel and the fragrance.
- Extinguish using a snuffer rather than blowing — this prevents hot wax from splashing and reduces soot.
Reed Diffusers
- Flip the reeds every 7–10 days to refresh the scent throw; flipping more frequently depletes the fragrance oil faster.
- Place diffusers away from direct sunlight, air conditioning vents, and heat sources, which accelerate evaporation.
- Position diffusers in areas with gentle air circulation — near a doorway or on a side table — for optimal fragrance distribution.
- When refilling, replace the reeds as old reeds become saturated and less effective over time.
- Place diffusers on a small tray or coaster to protect surfaces from any drips of fragrance oil.
